Wats up in Mumbai this week???
Lots of classical concerts going on in Fine Arts and Anushaktinagar....

Saturday 22nd Jan - Nityashree Mahadevan(Anushaktinagar)
One interesting thing about her concert was the Ragam Thanam Pallavi, which was composed in dwinadai thalam(mix of khandam and thisram)....She did mess up a bit in between:D, but a great effort still!

Sunday 23rd Jan - T.V.Shankaranarayanan(Anushaktinagar)
He sang all popular kritis in all popular ragas like Kalyani, Kambodi, Shankarabharanam, Kapinarayani etc....and how were the swaras??? ...as usual ....filled with patterns and glamor, which did win him amazing rounds of applause from, sorry to say, the almost 'ignorant-in-music' audience.....little do they realise that patterning up swaras is perhaps the easiest way out to sing them!!! HAHAHAHA.....
But then, the accompanying artists on the Mrudangam(K.V.Prasad) and Ghatam(S.Karthik) did a gr8 job....

Its been a really really long time since i heard good Mridangam .......the last one I remember is Thiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam accompanying T.N.Seshagopalan in Anushaktinagar more than 5 years back.......that was one hell of a show:)

Today we have Ranjani-Gayatri singing in Chambur Fine-Arts, lets see wat they do......
